The first entry in our Alaskan Drawing Series Close-up is "Winter Light", one of the first variants in the series. It really captures the mood of the cold winter days in Anchorage.

Winters in Anchorage are pretty cold; the average temperatures range between -3°C (26°F) and -12°C (8°F). The days are also short; the sun doesn't rise until around 10am and it's dark by 4pm. During the few hours of daylight, the sky often has an ice-cold aqua tinge to it, as captured in this photo.
