The Alaskan Drawing series is a collection of digital artworks by Yolanda del Riego, based on one of her pen & ink sketches from Alaska. Yolanda lived in Alaska from 1973 to 1980, and it was in Anchorage where she began her printmaking studies at the Visual Arts Center of Alaska. (To learn more about her Alaskan period, see the Biographical Notes on her website.)
The Story Behind the Sketch
The original pen & ink drawing is a sketch of the dramatic landscapes around Turnagain Arm, drawn by the artist while on a trip to Hope.

The drive from Anchorage to Hope includes a stretch along the Seward Highway, which winds around the Turnagain Arm and has been designated one of the thirty “All-American Roads” for its unique scenic qualities.
